What is Project 366?
It’s usually Project 365 but 2020 was a leap year so we got an extra day. It’s a photo challenge – 1 photo a day for the duration of a year.
I’ve loved seeing the work of other photographers taking on this project and I thought it was about time I had a go. And I do love to set myself a challenge.
I’m so proud that I completed the year and I love the everyday images I captured.
Was it hard?
Hell yeah! At times it felt like a marathon with so many hurdles along the way – and lockdown very nearly meant I didn’t see it to the finish line.
I found my groove halfway through the year when I could start to see the significance of these photos. These beautiful everyday snapshots gave me hope and positively to get through another month and to keep pushing myself. I needed this project. It gave me focus when I was unable to work and it gave my family a much-needed record of our lives that they were missing.
This project has become part of my daily routine and I’m going to miss it dearly. If it wasn’t for other projects, I would have continued for another year.
Next year I’m going to challenge myself with a weekly self-portrait – Project 52 Self Portraits. I’m also going to start filmmaking so that’s enough to keep me busy.
