1 January – 31 December 2020. 1 photo a day for the year, 366 days (1 extra as 2020 was a leap year).
I’m so proud of this achievement. At times it felt like a marathon with so many hurdles along the way – and lockdown very nearly meant I didn’t see it to the finish line.
I found my groove halfway through the year when I could start to see the significance of these photos. These beautiful everyday snapshots gave me hope and positively to get through another month and to keep pushing myself. I needed this project. It gave me focus when I was unable to work and it gave my family a much-needed record of our lives that they were missing.
This project has become part of my daily routine and I’m going to miss it dearly. If it wasn’t for other projects, I would have continued for another year.
Next year I’m going to challenge myself with a weekly self-portrait – Project 52 Self Portraits. I’m also going to start filmmaking so that’s enough to keep me busy.
